Our Story

Born From the Mountain West

Madera Design-Build was founded in Ridgway, Colorado, and that's not just an address. It's a point of view. This corner of the San Juans shapes how we think about materials, terrain, light, and time.

We started building here because we love it here. The Montrose-to-Telluride corridor is home, not a market to exploit. That connection to place shows up in everything we build: a sensitivity to the land, a respect for the climate, and a commitment to structures that belong exactly where they stand.

Madera was founded by brothers Andrew and David, one with deep roots in Western Colorado's mountain terrain, the other with decades of construction experience from a major market. Together, they combine the kind of experience that usually requires hiring multiple firms into a single, seamless partnership with you.

How We Work

What We Stand For

These aren't values we put on a poster. They're the ones that show up at 7am on a cold October site visit.

Craft First

Every detail matters, not because the client will notice, but because it's right. We build things to last a generation, not a listing cycle. The quality of our work is the clearest thing we can say about who we are.

Local Knowledge Is an Advantage

We know the soils, the weather windows, the permit processes, and the subcontractors. We know which routes flood in May and which passes close in November. That knowledge saves time, money, and headaches, and it can only come from being here.

Honest Conversations, Always

We'll tell you the truth about what your budget can do, what your site demands, and what the timeline actually looks like. No over-promising. No surprises on change orders. Your trust is the foundation of everything we build together.

Every Budget Deserves Good Design

A well-designed manufactured home is a better home than a poorly designed custom build. We don't equate cost with care, we bring the same thoughtfulness to every project, regardless of scope. Smart design is always the right investment.

Design & Build As One Team

When designers and contractors work separately, things fall through the cracks. When they work together, from the first sketch to the final nail, there's a clarity of intent that shows up in every finished space. That's the design-build advantage.

Community Is Not Optional

Ridgway, Ouray, and Telluride are communities, not just markets. We hire locally when we can, we support the valley, and we build in a way that respects the landscape future generations will inherit. We're stakeholders here, not just contractors.
